Description
Liv Tours Barcelona Bike Tour begins the minute you meet your guide in front of the palace-like 1920s main post office of Barcelona (arrive early and pop inside to see the magnificent stained glass ceiling!). Your friendly expert guide will lead you to a nearby neighborhood bike shop, allowing you to choose your bike.
Once you are in the saddle, your guide will lead you to the Inner Harbor before diving into the old fisherman’s neighborhood and then the beach where you will stop to enjoy a glass of ice cold cava, Spain’s sparkling wine, before continuing on your scenic tour.
Next you will meander up the boardwalk to the Olympic Village where you will admire the massive urban changes the city underwent before hosting the 1992 Summer Olympic Games. What was one of the city’s main industrial areas was transformed into a district full of parks, modern housing, restaurants, clean beaches and pristine waters and is a great tribute to the clever urban planners of Barcelona.
After admiring the Olympic Port and Village your guide will take you along one of the most picturesque tree-lined streets in the city to explore the Parc de la Ciutadella. Discover the past uses of this area that nowadays is a much treasured green space in the heart of the city. From there, it is just a stone’s throw to the majestic Arc de Triomf built as the main entranceway to the 1888 Universal Exposition where you are bound to see rollerbladers on obstacle courses, street performers and a sundry of locals enjoying the outdoors.
Next, it is off to see the elegant Mercat del Born. This market, built in 1867, which was the city’s wholesale fruit and vegetable market until the 1970s, is one of Europe’s largest iron architecture structures. It is now home to the recently discovered ruins from the houses that were destroyed in the War of Succession in the 1700s.
During your luxury small group bike tour, your guide will make sure that you have plenty of time to take pictures and enjoy your ride at a comfortable pace - this is a ride, not a race!
