Description

Your LivTours’ Half Day Paris City Tour will begin in one of the most scenic spots of the city, just next to the pyramid entrance into the Louvre Museum. From there, you will begin a leisurely stroll along the Seine River to Pont Neuf as your private guide gives you a comprehensive introduction to this wonderful city! Your first destination is one of two islands in the Seine River and known locally as the Île de la Cité. Passing through filming locations from Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris, explaining their impenetrable places in history as well.

Next you are off to the French equivalent to Rome’s Sistine Chapel – Sainte Chapelle. But instead of 8,000 square feet of jaw-dropping painting, you will be surrounded by stained glass windows. Once used by French nobility for Catholic mass, this High Gothic chapel has some of the most beautiful stained glass in the world. Your guide will point out the familiar tales from the Old and New Testaments, as well as stories related to how Sainte Chapelle came to hold Christ’s Crown of Thorns.

After admiring Sainte Chapelle, it is now time to hear a few of the darker tales of Paris’ past as you walk by the former prisons where Marie Antoinette spent her last days before meeting her fate under the guillotine.

On your way to the dock to catch your river cruise, your guide will take you to see the Notre Dame Cathedral. Temporarily closed to the public due to the fire in 2019, your guide will regale you with information about its architecture, the beautifully intricate main facade doorways which were unharmed by the fire and the plans the city has for its reconstruction.
